Effective Learning Strategies
The effective learning classroom provides the child with special needs strategies that include both learning strategies and instructional strategies. Instructional strategies are intervention or strategies implemented to allow the educator to deliver information to students. Learning strategies develop strategies/techniques directed toward the individual learner. Strategies are created in order to allow the student to comprehend new information. Examples of instructional strategies may include think-pair-share, collaborative grouping, and the gallery walk. Examples of learning strategies include techniques such as mnemonic devices, discussions, concept mapping and graphic organizers. Teachers must educate themselves in how to recognize and understand the impact of visual-perceptual, motor, and language skills with in the learning environment and how each relates to information processing.
